Mayor of the City of Peterborough, Councillor Paula Thacker MBE,
was joined by representatives from construction company, Larkfleet
Homes, Peterborough City Council, POD consultancy, the Homes and
Communities Agency (HCA) and Employees Agent, Davis Langdon to mark
the occasion along with housing provider Longhrust & Havelok
Homes.
The houses benefit from a highly innovative and contemporary design
which boasts ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms with open plan
living space on the upper floor, leading to a raised decking area,
whilst the apartments offer spacious living
accommodation.
POD worked with L&H Homes and Larkfleet
Group to ensure that all the properties were built to Level 3 of
the Code for Sustainable Homes. Timber frame construction methods
were used on site which provides an efficient way of building and
quicker construction time. Timber frames for the homes were
supplied and erected by Kestrel Timber Frame (http://www.kestreltimberframe.co.uk/),
part of the Larkfleet Group.
Thirty-three of the new build properties
were allocated for affordable rent and nine of the homes were
available for low cost purchase through L&H Homes’ Rent to
Homebuy scheme.

In addition 7 existing un-modernised
terraced houses surrounding the development have been refurbished
and let to families in housing need.
