Triple Success for Blue Skies
The Blue Skies Consortium has turned in a
spectacular set of results over the past three years, bringing
desperately needed affordable homes within reach of hundreds of
people.
Between 2008 and 2011, partners across the
East Midlands were successful in accessing close to £130 million of
grants – almost two thirds more than the original allocation – to
develop new housing for rent and sale. However, even more
impressive was the total cost of schemes - £350 million-plus – once
other sources of funding were brought in.
The outcome was that the consortium far
outstripped its initial targets, as the figures demonstrate – a
remarkable achievement given the economic downturn and tough market
conditions. The homes were built to benefit customers of the 16
consortium members as well as, through our development consultancy
partnership POD, for other housing associations and local
authorities.
